Crime organization leader İnanç Meçul arrested in İzmir

It was revealed that İnanç Meçul had been pressuring citizens by posing as a police officer, particularly in the Torbalı district, and had been granting himself privileges using fake IDs and license plates.

The İzmir leg of the 'KAFES-18 Operation', conducted nationwide by the Ministry of Interior against criminal organizations, was carried out under the coordination of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, with the joint efforts of the Anti-Organized Crime Branch and the Intelligence Branch.

During the operation targeting 28 individuals on the morning of December 13, searches conducted at the addresses resulted in the seizure of numerous unlicensed pistols and cartridges, 4 police radios, a quantity of narcotics, and a large number of checks and promissory notes. A total of 21 suspects from two separate criminal organizations were detained in the operation.

ACTED LIKE A POLICE OFFICER

In the activities carried out against two separate criminal organizations, particularly in the investigations into the criminal organization led by İnanç Meçul in the Torbalı district, it was determined that Meçul had been pressuring citizens by posing as a police officer, providing himself and his associates with privileges through fake IDs and license plates, and obtaining illicit gains by collecting aid under the name of an association through threats and coercion.

İNANÇ MEÇUL AND 5 NETWORK MEMBERS ARRESTED

Following their procedures at the police station, İnanç Meçul and 5 other members of the organization were referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested by the court, while 1 suspect was released under judicial control.
