Criminal complaint filed against Binali Yıldırım

A criminal complaint has been filed against the last Prime Minister, Binali Yıldırım, who stated that the definition of citizenship could be reviewed in the new constitution during a time when a new reconciliation process is being discussed.

According to a report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü,, Yıldırım was reported by Kutlu Party Deputy Chairman and lawyer Fatma Melike Karaslan.

In the petition, it was noted that Yıldırım requested changes to the unchangeable articles of the Constitution.

It was emphasized that the AKP's Yıldırım committed the crime of "disrupting the unity of the state and the integrity of the country" under Article 302 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) and the crime of "violating the Constitution" under Article 309, and it was requested that an investigation be opened and he be punished. Karaslan stated, "It is impossible for the suspect not to be aware of these situations arising from international law and constitutional law, given the positions he has held to date." It was argued that a constitutional crime had been committed. The day before, MHP's Feti Yıldız had also reacted, saying, "Some people are talking nonsense."
