The Ministry of Family and Social Services has announced that it will file a criminal complaint regarding a beauty pageant titled "Little Miss and Little Mister United World," which was reported to be organized in Antalya for children in the 4-13 age group.
In a statement from the Ministry, it was reported that the process was taken under review following reports in some media outlets and digital platforms. The statement emphasized that it is unacceptable for children to be made to compete based on their physical appearance and to be evaluated according to adult beauty standards.
The Ministry stated that such organizations turn children into a commercial element, noting that this is incompatible with the principles of children's rights and the best interests of the child.
The statement included the following: "In order to protect our children, all necessary legal and administrative steps will be taken decisively within the framework of our duties and powers, and the process will be followed meticulously."
The statement further noted that protecting the physical, mental, and psychosocial development of children is a fundamental responsibility. The Ministry stated that no commercial activity, promotion, or organization can be more valuable than the rights and well-being of children.
