Criminal complaint from student Eren Üner, who was arrested during the İmamoğlu protest

University student Eren Üner, who was arrested due to a social media post during the protests that began across Turkey following the detention of CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, has filed a criminal complaint, stating that he was subjected to torture during the detention process.

It is alleged that 23-year-old Üner, a second-year history student, was beaten for hours, insulted, and threatened with death by police officers at the Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Branch.

DON'T BEAT HIM THAT MUCH, BEAT HIM LESS

According to Üner's criminal complaint petition, lawyer I.G., who is affiliated with the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2 and was assigned under the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK) during the incident, witnessed the beating but, instead of intervening, only said, "Don't beat him that much, beat him less."

SIGNS OF BATTERY RECORDED IN HOSPITAL AND PRISON RECORDS

Üner, who was threatened during the detention process, received a report stating he was "healthy" under pressure during his initial examination at Bayrampaşa State Hospital. However, upon his transfer to prison, gendarmerie officers noticed the signs of battery. Later, examinations conducted at Haseki Hospital recorded the signs of battery on Üner's body. The same findings were also reported by a physician at the prison.

5 SEPARATE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST POLICE OFFICERS

In the criminal complaint submitted to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Üner's lawyers leveled accusations of "torture," "intentional injury," "threats," "insult," and "misconduct in public office" against the police officers on duty.

Sharing the mistreatment he faced during the detention process on the X platform, which received over 8 million views, Üner stated that no public official had contacted him, saying, "They tried to silence me with torture."
