Critical development in CHP convention case: Lütfü Savaş submits to court

The judicial process in the lawsuit filed over allegations that financial benefits were provided to certain delegates during the Republican People's Party (CHP) convention held in November 2023 has entered a new phase. While the application made on the grounds of violating the Law on Political Parties initiated the court process, new documents have been requested to be added to the court file.

The court panel decided to request updated delegate lists again from both Lütfü Savaş, who constitutes the plaintiff side, and the CHP administration due to allegations of irregularities in the delegate lists at the convention.

In this context, Lütfü Savaş's legal team submitted the delegate list from Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's term as chairman to the court. Conversely, the current party administration submitted the new delegate list, which was updated after the convention, to the file.

With this latest decision, activity in the process has resumed following the previous ruling that there was “no need to issue a decision” in the case. This development has also brought the “appointment of a trustee” discussions, which had come to the fore in recent months, back to the public eye.

With Akın Gürlek taking office at the Ministry of Justice, the “nullity case” and related allegations, which were stated to have been removed from the agenda for a period, have once again become a subject of debate with the court's latest requests.
