Due to the decision to hold early elections in the United Kingdom, the seat of Vice President at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO-PA) became vacant.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A NATO-PA VICE PRESIDENT?
NATO-PA Vice Presidents are also members of the NATO-PA Bureau. The NATO-PA Bureau makes the initial response in situations where the Assembly needs to take an urgent position regarding internal or external events, makes decisions on behalf of the Assembly, and issues necessary statements.
As members of the Bureau, Vice Presidents also determine the Assembly's priorities together with the President and oversee the implementation of the work program in coordination. In the event that the NATO-PA President leaves office, the Vice Presidents complete the term of office in an acting capacity.
HE WAS ELECTED CHAIR OF THE ECONOMICS AND SECURITY COMMITTEE
Last October, at the NATO-PA 69th Annual Session held in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, Faik Öztrak was unanimously elected as Chair of the Economics and Security Committee, one of the Assembly's five main committees, in an election he entered as the candidate of the socialist group.
