Critical search in Istanbul flood disaster: Governor Gül announces latest status

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, who conducted inspections in Ayazağa where the flood was effective, made a statement regarding the search and damage assessment efforts being carried out in the region.

Gül stated that efforts to find the 5 people reported missing following the flood are continuing. Noting that the 17-kilometer stream line and the Golden Horn are being scanned as part of the search activities, Gül expressed that teams are continuing their work in the field.

Regarding the missing persons, Governor Gül said, "We want to find them as soon as possible." Gül also reported that 2 people previously stated to be searched for in Pendik had actually gone missing in Gebze.

Touching upon the damage assessment process initiated in the region following the flood, Gül noted that the work has been largely completed and that teams are conducting on-site inspections as new applications arrive.

Stating that the demolition of some structures that pose an obstacle to the stream improvement project is ongoing, Gül said, "We have one building left. Hopefully, when we demolish that this afternoon, all the buildings that are in the way of İSKİ's stream improvement project will have been removed."
