Criticism of court ruling from Narin's mother Yüksel Güran's lawyer: 'The evidence is not satisfactory'

In the case regarding the brutal murder of Narin in Diyarbakır, uncle Salim Güran, mother Yüksel Güran, and brother Enes Güran were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, while the confessor Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime.

Speaking about the court's decision, Demiroğlu stated that there was a lack of evidence in the case and said: "I do not believe that this conviction was established with satisfactory evidence. If it is finalized in the reasoned decision that Yüksel Güran was involved in this matter, I have nothing to say, absolutely nothing. Whether I like it or not..."

Yılmaz Demiroğlu, the lawyer for mother Yüksel Güran, made important statements on the program "Hayata Dair" with Cansu Canan Özgen, broadcast on tv100. Arguing that the decision regarding Yüksel Güran was not reached as a result of satisfactory evidence, Demiroğlu said:

'IF IT IS PROVEN THAT SHE IS GUILTY...'

"In our opinion, as lawyers who have examined the case file, I personally do not think that this conviction was established with satisfactory evidence regarding my client Yüksel. If there had been satisfactory evidence, it would have found a place in all of our consciences.

If it is finalized that Yüksel Güran was involved in this matter, I have nothing to say, absolutely nothing.

If legally acceptable evidence that is open to everyone's scrutiny is presented and it is said 'yes, she is guilty,' then it will certainly undergo legal review and find its place in everyone's conscience. Whether I like it or not..."
