Criticism of water price hike in İzmir Metropolitan Municipality from Özgür Özel's brother

Barış Özel, the brother of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, criticized the water price hike in İzmir on social media. 

Barış Özel used the following expressions in his post:

"While a promise to reduce water prices was made as an election pledge in İzmir, a hike even higher than the electricity price hike is being implemented after the election. It is officially a compounded hike on Turkey's most expensive water. Is this how you will govern İzmir? It is a shame for these people!

Quoting an article by Bianet titled "The cost of using water in İzmir: Exorbitant hikes and the dam that could not be built for the sake of gold," Barış Özel continued his remarks as follows:

The Gold Mine and Unbuilt Dam section of the article below explains why water is expensive. The public is condemned to expensive water so that a few people can make money. No mayor is fighting against Efemçukuru anymore.

Yet, if it weren't for the Efemçukuru Gold Mine, which is 20 km away from Konak Square as the crow flies, the Güzelbahçe Çamlı dam could have been built, and there would have been no need to bring water from Gördes (120 km away)—which also turned out to have a cracked bottom; not only did water barely reach İzmir, but a treatment plant worth tens of millions of dollars was built in Bornova, yet I believe it has not been used for 11 years."

In his post, Özel also tagged the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Citizen Communication Center (İzmir HİM), İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, and İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay.
