Cüneyt Özdemir reveals: The example that persuaded President Erdoğan not to dismiss Şimşek

News reports claiming that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek had either 'resigned' or been 'dismissed' have surfaced many times. These reports were denied by Mehmet Şimşek and the Presidential Communications Directorate.

Journalist Cüneyt Özdemir made a notable statement on his own channel. Stating that the event took place in the last month, Özdemir conveyed that President Erdoğan was preparing to dismiss Treasury and Finance Minister Şimşek, but abandoned this decision following the remarks of individuals who intervened.

In his statement, which he based on two sources, Özdemir expressed that AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan was preparing to dismiss Minister Mehmet Şimşek, but changed his mind after those close to him intervened.

Özdemir stated the following:

"THEY SAID IT WAS ACCURATE INFORMATION"

I will share some insider information with you. This happened in the last month. It took place at the Presidential Complex, it is accurate information. I mean, I asked my two sources, and they said it was accurate information.

ERDOĞAN: 'AS LONG AS THIS POLICY CONTINUES, IT WILL COST US VOTES'

An incident like this occurs; I don't know who he is talking to—whether it's Hasan Doğan, İbrahim Kalın, or Fahrettin Altun. Erdoğan says: Mehmet Şimşek is implementing a policy. He understands the economy, but this is costing us votes. I also understand politics; as long as this policy continues, it will cost us votes. Therefore, he says, let's change this.

"THERE ARE 30 MINUTES UNTIL IFTAR AND YOU ARE SAYING LET'S BREAK THE FAST"

I don't know who was close to him—it might have been Cevdet [Yılmaz] who explained it—but they said: If you want, let me explain the situation to you like this. This is like waking up in the morning, making the intention, and fasting; there are 30 minutes left until iftar and you are saying let's break the fast. Okay, can we break it? We can. Will you bear the sin of this? You will. You are not just breaking the fast; there is also a 61-day compensation for this.

Upon this, Erdoğan gave up on dismissing Mehmet Şimşek.
