Cyber operation by MIT

Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a joint operation was carried out against a cyber espionage network in coordination with the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), the Gendarmerie General Command (JGK), and the National Cyber Incident Response Center (USOM). The cyber espionage network, which seized the personal data of thousands of people worldwide, including in Turkey, was dismantled in the operation. Additionally, 11 individuals involved in the network were apprehended during the operation.

THEY SHARED DATA WITH TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS

According to intelligence obtained by MIT, it was determined that the cyber espionage network, which also has international extensions, shared the personal data it seized from many countries with anyone who requested it, including terrorist organizations. It was determined that the espionage network, which MIT had been monitoring for a long time, provided information of vital importance, especially for terrorist organizations.

WEBSITES BLOCKED

Within the scope of the operation, while the organization members were arrested and sent to prison, numerous websites were also blocked from access. On the other hand, while work related to the investigation, which is under a confidentiality order, continues in detail, the seized data is being meticulously examined.

DETERMINATION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CYBER ESPIONAGE

It is expected that MIT will continue to expand its cyber espionage operations to protect personal data, which is of critical importance. It is expected that the operations carried out against the espionage network will not be limited to Turkey alone, and that its connections abroad will also be placed under scrutiny.
