Damascus and SDF delegations back at the table: Agreement reached

An official meeting was held on Sunday between the committee responsible for implementing the agreement reached in March between the SDF, the umbrella organization of the PKK in Syria, and the Damascus administration. In a statement issued after the meeting, it was reported that the talks took place in a "positive atmosphere and with a sense of responsibility." 

An official meeting took place between Damascus's committee tasked with finalizing the agreement and the SDF delegation, and according to statements, a consensus was reached on many important issues. 

Speaking to the Syrian news agency SANA, Brigadier General Ziad Al-Aish, a member of the Damascus committee, announced that a decision had been made to establish specialized sub-committees to monitor the implementation of the agreement reached on March 10 between Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Shara and SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi. 

During the inter-delegation meeting, an agreement was also reached on "resolving outstanding issues regarding exams and examination centers, and ensuring the rights of students and the integrity of the educational process."

The SDF and Damascus delegations discussed the issue of facilitating the return of displaced persons to their regions and establishing mechanisms to remove obstacles related to this return. 

The meeting also resulted in an agreement "to reactivate the agreement regarding the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsood neighborhoods in Aleppo and to address it in a way that serves stability and internal peace."

The Damascus and SDF delegations announced that another meeting is planned to conclude the discussions and monitor the implementation of what has been agreed upon. 

AGREEMENT REACHED ON 10 POINTS 

An eight-point integration agreement was signed on March 10 between Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Shara and YPG ringleader Mazloum Abdi. The agreed-upon articles of the agreement were as follows: 

"-Guaranteeing the rights of all Syrians to participate in the political process and all state institutions based on merit, without religious or ethnic discrimination.

-Recognizing the Kurdish community as an inseparable part of the Syrian state and guaranteeing their citizenship rights and constitutional rights.

-Declaring a ceasefire across all Syrian territories to end armed conflicts.

-Integrating civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria, including border crossings, airports, and oil and natural gas fields, into the Syrian state administration.

-Ensuring the return of all displaced Syrians to their cities and villages and ensuring their protection by the Syrian state.

-Supporting the Syrian State's fight against the remnants of the Assad regime and all threats to Syria's security and unity.

-Rejecting calls, hate speech, and attempts to sow discord aimed at creating division among all segments of Syrian society.

-Executive committees continuing their work to implement the agreement by the end of the year at the latest."
