Data released: Internet in Turkey is slower than in Burkina Faso

According to the latest data released in August by Speedtest, the company with the most up-to-date and extensive data on internet speeds worldwide, Turkey ranks 106th out of 161 countries in fixed internet speed and 58th in mobile internet speed.

The internet speed of countries is measured by the amount of megabits transmitted per second (Mbps) in transmission systems known as "fixed broadband." According to Speedtest's August data, while the global average for fixed download speed is measured at 93.99 Mbps, Turkey remains below the global average at 42.90 Mbps. According to the rankings, the internet in Turkey is slower than in countries such as Cambodia, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, South Africa, and Guatemala.

While the United Arab Emirates uses the world's fastest fixed internet at 297.62 Mbps, Turkmenistan takes the last place on the list with 3.53 Mbps.

According to a report by VOA Turkish, the global average for mobile internet download speed is 55.80 Mbps. According to Speedtest data, this speed, measured at 46.37 Mbps in Turkey, is again below the global average. While the United Arab Emirates uses the world's fastest mobile internet at 398.51 Mbps, Yemen comes in last place with 7.91 Mbps.
