Date set for Court of Cassation presidency elections
Following the election of the new Constitutional Court (AYM) President Kadir Özkaya, eyes have turned to the Court of Cassation presidency elections.
The election marathon in the high judiciary has begun.
Eyes have turned to the presidency elections at the Constitutional Court (AYM), the Court of Cassation, and the Council of State. The new AYM President, Kadir Özkaya, has been elected.
The 4-year term of Mehmet Akarca, who was elected to the position of President of the Court of Cassation on March 24, 2020, is coming to an end.
In this context, the 348 members of the High Court will head to the polls on March 25 to determine the president who will serve for a 4-year term.
Each member of the Court of Cassation will be eligible to be a presidential candidate, and to be elected, candidates will need to receive the absolute majority of the votes of the 348 members.
