Following the death of Üsküdar Deputy Mayor Dündar Ziya Gültekin in a traffic accident, the Istanbul Governor's Office has announced the date for the Municipal Council to convene to elect a new deputy mayor.
Following Gültekin's passing in the traffic accident, the date for the Municipal Council to meet to fill the vacant position has been determined.
The statement issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office included the following:
"Following the death of Üsküdar Deputy Mayor Dündar Ziya GÜLTEKİN on 15.10.2026 due to a traffic accident, it has been deemed appropriate by our Governor's Office for the Üsküdar Municipal Council to convene on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM for the purpose of electing a new Deputy Mayor."
