Date set for Silivri Deputy Mayor election
The Istanbul Governor's Office has announced that the election for the deputy mayor of Silivri will be held on June 20, following the suspension of Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu by the Ministry of Interior.
The Istanbul Governor's Office has announced that the election for the deputy mayor of Silivri will be held on June 20.
The statement issued by the Governor's Office included the following:
"As part of the investigation conducted by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crimes of 'Establishing and Managing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes under TCK 220/1, Accepting Bribes under TCK 252, and Creating the Impression that Assets were Obtained Legally under TCK 282/1-c,' Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu was arrested by the Silivri Criminal Court of Peace with the decision dated June 15, 2026, and numbered 2026/299.
The aforementioned individual was suspended from duty by the approval of the Ministry of Interior dated June 16, 2026.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 45 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, it has been deemed appropriate by our Governor's Office for the Silivri District Municipal Council to convene on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM to elect a Deputy Mayor."
