Daughter of former Kızılay President Kerem Kınık found 'primarily at fault'

An expert report has been prepared regarding Fatıma Zehra Kınık Demir, the daughter of former Kızılay President Kerem Kınık, who caused the death of a young motorcyclist and injured three others, and whose judicial control conditions were lifted after she was tried without arrest. In the report sent to the Istanbul 8th High Criminal Court, Zehra Kınık Demir was found to be primarily at fault.

The expert report, prepared by two specialists at the court's request, described how the accident occurred based on camera footage. According to the report, it was stated that Fatıma Zehra Kınık Demir was 'primarily at fault in the occurrence of the accident as she violated the traffic rules explained in Article 47/c,d, Article 57/a,b-5, Article 84/h of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918, and the provisions explained in Article 95/c,d, Article 109/a, Article 109/b-5, Article 157/a-8, Article 157/b of the Regulation attached to the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918'.

According to the report in Anka, it was also stated that the motorcycle driver Yavuz Selim Öztürk and the deceased Batın Barlasçeki were partially at fault for traveling without helmets, while the two pedestrians injured in the accident were found to be without fault.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the incident that occurred on July 9 in Kavacık, Beykoz, Fatıma Zehra Kınık Demir, while attempting to enter Fatih Sultan Mehmet Street, struck the motorcycle driven by Yavuz Selim Öztürk with her car. In the incident, 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki, who was sitting on the back of the motorcycle, fell and hit his head on concrete bollards, losing his life, while the motorcycle driver Yavuz Selim Öztürk and pedestrians Muammer Kızıl and İbrahim Ethem Üstünışık, who were struck by the motorcycle as it continued to skid along the sidewalk, were injured. The incident was captured second-by-second on security cameras.

After being held in custody for one day following the incident, Fatıma Zehra Kınık was released by the court to be tried without arrest. The judicial control decision against Kınık was also lifted at the first hearing.
