Deadly attack on journalist Hakan Tosun caught on camera!

Security camera footage of the moment journalist Hakan Tosun was attacked in Istanbul's Esenyurt district has emerged; Tosun had been hospitalized and declared brain dead following the assault.

The footage shows two attackers arriving at the scene on a motorcycle, turning toward Tosun, and continuing to kick the journalist after he fell to the ground from the blows he received. The attackers were seen fleeing the scene rapidly afterward.

Among the shared recordings, footage showing two individuals alleged to be connected to the incident being led out of the police station with their hands handcuffed behind their backs also drew attention.

In a statement regarding the incident, the Istanbul Police Department provided the following information:

“Regarding the intentional injury incident that occurred in the Mehmet Akif Ersoy neighborhood of Esenyurt district on 11.10.2025 at approximately 00:30; our teams immediately arrived at the scene and determined that an individual named H.T. had been injured and was in life-threatening condition. As a result of the work carried out, the suspects identified as A.M. (18) and A.Ş. (24), who were determined to have committed the act, were apprehended and taken into custody in a short time. The suspects were arrested by the judicial authorities they were brought before on 12.10.2025 and delivered to a penal institution.”
