Death of secret witness İsmail Kocalar under investigation
İsmail Kocalar, who testified as a secret witness in the Sedat Peker case, was found dead by a lake in Manavgat, Antalya. Kocalar's body, whose cause of death has not yet been determined, has been sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute for a detailed examination.
42-year-old İsmail Kocalar, who lived alone in a hut by a lake in the Manavgat district of Antalya, has been found dead.
Kocalar had testified as a secret witness in the case of organized crime leader Sedat Peker.
Initial examinations at the scene revealed no signs of trauma on Kocalar's body.
His body has been sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the exact cause of death.
Kocalar, who had been experiencing health problems for some time, was battling serious illnesses such as cirrhosis.
In a video he previously released, Kocalar stated that his testimony in the Peker case was taken against his will and that he did not know Peker personally. He had expressed his experiences during the trial process by saying, "They made me a secret witness, I don't know anything."
Sedat Peker shook the agenda in Turkey with the videos and allegations he released, and a red notice was issued for his arrest in 194 countries. Peker is currently living in the United Arab Emirates.
