16 construction workers employed at a TOKİ project in Niğde began a resistance a week ago because their salaries had not been paid for 5 months. The workers, who traveled from Niğde to Ankara, held a meeting with the TOKİ Headquarters and received a promise that their wages would be paid. However, the subcontractor firm, Doruk İnşaat, did not accept the protocol prepared by its own lawyers and responded to the workers by saying, "Get your wages from TOKİ."

DEATH THREAT FROM SUBCONTRACTOR: 'WE WILL SHOOT YOU, BLOOD WILL BE SHED'

No one is holding a meeting with the workers who have returned to the front of the TOKİ building. Not only has no explanation been provided to the 16 construction workers, but officials from the subcontractor firm, Doruk İnşaat, also threatened the workers with death, saying, "We will shoot you, blood will be shed."

Yapı Yol İş Union President Mustafa Adnan Akyol stated to 12punto, "Both the workers and I, as the union president, are being threatened with death. No one's life is safe here. TOKİ is not intervening either," he said.

'WE CANNOT PAY OUR RENT, SOME HAVE HAD THEIR NATURAL GAS CUT OFF'

The 16 construction workers in resistance have not received payment for 5 months. The total amount of wages to be collected from the firm is around 6.5 million. Explaining their grievances to 12punto, the workers said, "There are those who cannot pay their rent and those whose natural gas has been cut off. Everyone is suffering. We have been sleeping in a car in Ankara for a week to get what is rightfully ours."
