Death toll rises to 4 in OBA Makarna explosion

Mesut Şimay (27) lost his life in the explosion that occurred on September 15 at the OBA Makarna factory located in the organized industrial zone in the Hendek district of Sakarya, while 30 people were injured and taken to hospitals for treatment.

Eray Kızıldağ (23), who was undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Kocaeli City Hospital, passed away on October 4, and Güven Albayrak (24), who was being treated at the burn unit of Istanbul Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital, passed away on October 9.

Merve Menteş, who was receiving treatment at the burn unit of Istanbul Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital, has also lost her battle for life. The death toll from the explosion has risen to 4.

FACTORY MANAGER ARRESTED, OWNERS RELEASED

Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Hendek Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 7 suspects, including factory owners and managers, were summoned for questioning. Following interrogations and procedures, 6 of the suspects were detained, and 1 was released.

Of the suspects referred to the criminal judgeship of peace, factory manager V.U. was arrested, while 5 suspects, including the factory owners, were released under judicial control conditions.
