'Debt' dispute among AKP members! Harsh words from Melih Gökçek to Mustafa Tuna

Citing debts owed to the Social Security Institution (SGK), the Ministry of Labor and Social Security has initiated foreclosure proceedings against 6 municipalities, including the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB). 

In the debate regarding the ABB's debts, debts from the Melih Gökçek era have also returned to the agenda. Participating in a program broadcast on TV100, Melih Gökçek targeted AKP member Mustafa Tuna, who occupied the mayoral seat for 2 years in the term following his own. 

Gökçek recalled reports by journalist Barış Yarkadaş stating that former ABB mayor Mustafa Tuna took over the municipality with debt and that personnel salaries could only be paid with support from ASKİ.

Regarding Tuna, Gökçek stated, “Mustafa Tuna is lying completely. He is acting dishonestly. When I handed over the municipality, there was not a single penny of tax debt or insurance debt. As for the companies, only one of them had a very small debt of 195 thousand TL in the currency of that day. If companies had insurance and tax debts, they could not enter municipal tenders. Therefore, the debt of all of them was zero. So whoever says this is lying, is speaking dishonestly. The total debt I left to Mansur Yavaş is 2.2 billion liras. Mansur Yavaş says 3.5 billion TL. But the remaining amount is debt left over from Mustafa Tuna's time.”

'HE IS TALKING NONSENSE!'

When Gürkan Hacır asked whether such a large debt could be incurred in such a short time, given that Mustafa Tuna held the mayoral seat for a short period, Gökçek replied, “Melih Gökçek had not delayed a salary for a single day until that day. What is this man talking about? He is talking nonsense, he is officially talking nonsense.”

Upon being asked by one of the program's guests, Fuat Uğur, 'Why did Mustafa Tuna do this?', Gökçek said, “After Mustafa Tuna took office, he did the opposite of what I did in every matter. For example, he is no different from Mansur Yavaş regarding Ankapark. He said he would dismantle Ankapark. Have no doubt about it. I am amazed at Mustafa Tuna's AKP membership.”
