Decision for 15 defendants in the Narin Güran murder trial
In the trial where 15 defendants, 6 of whom are in custody, are being tried at the 17th Criminal Court of First Instance for the crime of 'aiding and abetting a criminal' in relation to the murder of Narin Güran, the court decided to continue the detention of the imprisoned defendants and adjourned the next hearing to May 2.
The trial, in which imprisoned defendants Birsen, Fuat, and Maşallah Güran, Salim Güran's worker Mehmet Selim Atasoy, Mehmet Şevket Kaya, and Muhammed Kaya, as well as non-detained defendants Şeyma Kaya, Hediye Güran, İbrahim Halil Güran, Barış Güran, Kurtuluş Güran, and Ömer Faruk Güran, and children dragged into crime R.A. (16), M.G. (16), and I.K. (17) are being tried for the crime of "aiding and abetting a criminal" with a requested prison sentence of 6 months to 5 years each, is being held at the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance.
The imprisoned defendants were brought to the Diyarbakır Courthouse from the Diyarbakır Penal Execution Institutions Campus in prison transport vehicles under extensive security measures.
In the second hearing of the closed trial, 12 defendants, 3 children dragged into crime, and their lawyers were present.
During the hearing, 2 witnesses were heard.
The hearing was then adjourned for a short time.
CHP Diyarbakır Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu, who followed the hearing, stated in a press statement in front of the courthouse that he had been following the process since the beginning but that the verdict in the first trial did not satisfy him, and that the verdict was far from describing the perpetrator and the cause of the incident.
Tanrıkulu said, "The investigation must be handled effectively, and the trials must be conducted effectively. The appellate court must also conduct its review effectively so that we can truly reach the real perpetrator and the cause of the incident in this case. This is my wish."
After the break, 5 more witnesses were heard in the hearing.
The prosecutor expressed an opinion in favor of the continuation of the current status of the imprisoned defendants and requested time to present their final opinion on the merits.
Lawyers from the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Saadet Teacher Association for Combating Child Abuse (UCİM) also made statements.
In their defense, the defendants' lawyers requested the release and acquittal of their clients from the alleged crime.
The court decided to continue the detention of the imprisoned defendants and adjourned the hearing to May 2.
