The UKOME meeting was held at the Zeytinburnu Çırpıcı Social Facilities under the chairmanship of IMM Deputy Secretary General Gürkan Akgün.
During the meeting, a proposal regarding mandatory driver training within the scope of the Public Transportation Service Quality Evaluation System was put to a vote. In line with the proposal, which was accepted unanimously, the training provided to those becoming drivers for the first time was increased from 1 day to 5 days.
The proposal by Istanbul Ulaşım A.Ş. to redetermine the fare tariffs for Sabiha Gökçen Airport lines was withdrawn from the agenda.
The pedestrianization project proposal for Zambak Street in the Yeşilköy neighborhood of Bakırköy was also discussed at the meeting. The proposal was accepted unanimously.
Meanwhile, Martı TAG founder Oğuz Alper Öktem and his companions, who gathered in front of the facility where the meeting was held, staged a protest demanding that the IMM issue a shared passenger regulation.
TAXI FARE HIKE REQUEST
The taxi drivers' request for a fare hike has sparked debate among citizens. While one segment understands the increase in taxi drivers' costs, another segment believes that further increasing taxi fares, which are already high, is unacceptable.
Whether the taxi drivers' request for a hike would be accepted at today's UKOME meeting was eagerly awaited. No such decision was taken as a result of the meeting.
