Decision reached regarding Ahmet Kurtuluş, who was referred to the judgeship

CHP Deputy Speaker Ahmet Kurtuluş, who was detained following a dispute at the Kadıköy Municipal Council, was brought to court with a request for judicial control. The incident occurred after a verbal altercation between AKP Council Member Elif Lale Bilgili and Kurtuluş.

During the meeting, as Bilgili was given the floor, Kurtuluş reminded her that her speaking time was limited to 5 minutes. Bilgili, reacting to this warning, claimed she was being treated unfairly. As the argument escalated, Kurtuluş's remark, 'Let's throw her out,' caused a significant stir. Following these statements, the CHP announced that it had launched a disciplinary investigation into Kurtuluş.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into Kurtuluş on allegations of 'misconduct in public office,' 'obstruction of freedom of expression,' and 'restriction of the right to benefit from public services.' In this context, Kurtuluş was detained by police teams and taken to the Anadolu Courthouse after his procedures at the police station were completed.

Kurtuluş, who gave his statement to the prosecutor, was referred to the duty magistrate judge with a request for judicial control measures, including a 'mandatory signature requirement' and a 'travel ban.' The judge ruled for a travel ban against Kurtuluş.
