Decision to continue detention for journalist Furkan Karabay
Journalist Furkan Karabay, who was arrested on charges of "insulting the President" and "targeting individuals involved in the fight against terrorism" due to his statements on a YouTube channel and social media posts, has had his detention extended for the third time following a review.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested the continuation of the detention of journalist Furkan Karabay, who has been held in prison for 85 days.
The court ruled for the continuation of detention for the third time during Karabay's detention review.
The objection to the detention of journalist Karabay, who has been held in Silivri Prison for 85 days, was heard at the Istanbul 11th Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
The request letter from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which sought a decision for the continuation of Karabay's detention, was also read in court.
In the hearing where Karabay connected from prison via SEGBİS, the judge rejected Karabay's request for release and decided that his detention should continue.
