"THE STATE IS SOMETHING GREATER THAN A PARTY"
Dedetaş replied to the AKP council member, saying, "I agree with your statement that those who betray will pay the price. We are of the same opinion. This is the Republic of Turkey; it is not anyone's personal property. This state does not belong to a single party. This state has a founder, this state has citizens. This state has political parties. It has a governing party and opposition parties. The state is something greater than a party and is not the property of any party."
AKP Council Member Dündar Ziya Gültekin had said the following:
"They want us to ignore those who are elected to municipalities with the lawful votes of the nation handing them over to those appointed from Qandil. Everyone, regardless of their position, must protect the trust of the nation and not betray it; those who do will pay the price."
