Deepfake scam featuring President Erdoğan
With the advancement of artificial intelligence technology, it has become possible to use a person's image and voice in very different ways. While this technological development is sometimes used for fun pranks, scammers are also trying to deceive citizens using the technology known as deepfake. Scammers can go so far in this regard that they do not hesitate to even use President Erdoğan.
In a scam video where footage of a talk given by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan to young people was taken and edited, Erdoğan is seen giving investment advice through Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) stocks.
The video, in which Erdoğan is made to promise that the money invested by citizens will multiply by tens of thousands of liras in a short time, shows how desperate the scammers have become and that they do not hesitate to use even President Erdoğan to deceive citizens.
