Turkey, Qatar, Indonesia, and Pakistan have signed the multilateral "Badr" Memorandum of Understanding in Doha, the capital of Qatar, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of defense.
The memorandum provides for the conduct of joint work in military production, technical military training, and research and development activities. The initiative aims to combine the military and economic capabilities of the four countries and develop joint solutions for modern defense systems.
On behalf of Turkey, the document was signed by Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler. The Qatari side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani, the Pakistani side by Minister of Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and the Indonesian side by Deputy Minister of Defense Yusuf Jauharı.
With the memorandum, it is planned to develop defense industry capacity by utilizing the production potential of the parties and to contribute to meeting the needs of allied and friendly countries. The partnership is also expected to pave the way for the creation of new industrial branches and sectoral solutions.
It was stated that the name "Badr" was chosen for the agreement because the word means "full moon" and emphasizes the complementary capabilities of the signatory countries.
This step between the four countries is intended to contribute to achieving common goals in the areas of security and stability, in addition to deepening defense industry relations.
