Defense Industry President Görgün's statement on Steel Dome: Signatures have been signed

A cooperation signing ceremony for the 'Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) Cloud Computing System Project' was held between the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) and the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). The signing ceremony, held at the Nuri Demirağ Conference Hall of the Presidency of Defense Industries, was attended by Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak, Force Commanders, Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün, and Mehmet Akif Nacar, General Manager of HAVELSAN, the project's prime contractor.

The signed TSK Cloud Computing System Project is expected to meet the servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure needs of the Armed Forces. Making statements on the subject, Defense Industry President Görgün pointed out that the project is one of the most important infrastructure components of the 'Steel Dome,' which Turkey will use as an air defense system shield in the coming years.

"A SOURCE OF PRIDE FOR US"

Pointing to the risks, threats, and current uncertainties emerging around Turkey and the world, Chief of General Staff Gürak emphasized that Turkey must have a strong and deterrent capacity in the face of these developments, stating, "This situation makes it mandatory for the TSK to be an effective and deterrent force with a high level of readiness, possessing a flexible, modern, and advanced command and control structure capable of rapidly neutralizing all kinds of threats. Today, the way battles and conflicts occur is changing rapidly with the technological innovations brought by the information age. Developments in communication, information, and weapon systems are causing not only our technological infrastructure but also the command and control of our units and the usage concepts of our weapon systems to undergo a radical transformation. Our defense industry, which has continued to increase its capabilities in recent years with the support of our President and the resources of our state, has become a source of pride for us with the successes it has achieved with a domestic and national production approach."

"AT THE SAME TIME AS MODERN ARMIES"

Underlining that the Turkish defense industry has achieved another success with the TSK Cloud Computing Project, Gürak said, "This project will cover many different components, from storing data with high security standards to providing easy access to applications, and by ensuring that each of these components works uninterruptedly and with redundancy, it will enable our Armed Forces to possess an information system structure that evolves from network-based capabilities to data-centric capabilities at the same time as modern armies."

"DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL"

Speaking at the ceremony, SSB President Haluk Görgün stated that ensuring information security is one of the most important issues, saying, "Now, instead of conventional systems and wars, many threats and wars based on digital infrastructures and data manipulation have begun to emerge with the advancement of technology. As information technologies develop and are produced, the speed of information production and naturally the speed of digitalization follow suit. With the increase in information production in recent times, protecting this information is becoming a strategic issue. Protecting, making sense of, and evaluating information according to needs are part of these activities. The development of cloud-based structures also brings artificial intelligence topics to the agenda. With this project, we will be solving and delivering a private, accessible cloud infrastructure system that is domestic and national, together with our existing human resources, by reaching a flexible structure. Within the scope of this project, when we look at it in terms of hardware and software, this project will be an opportunity for us to create competitive solutions in the world. Looking at it in terms of hardware, the project will be operational in terms of servers, storage systems, and network infrastructures."

"IT WILL BE THE PROJECT WE SIGNED"

Continuing his speech with statements regarding the TSK Cloud Project, Görgün said:

“The infrastructure that is needed. We are talking about the Steel Dome, and one of the most important infrastructures of the Steel Dome will be the project we signed today. Since it is considered end-to-end, it will be possible to provide the necessary infrastructure by coordinating the cybersecurity aspect by our prime contractor HAVELSAN, right up to the user at the final point.”
