Defense of arrested singer İlyas Yalçıntaş in court revealed: 'The crumbs in the jar...'
The court defense of singer İlyas Yalçıntaş, who was arrested as part of a drug investigation targeting celebrities, has been revealed. Yalçıntaş stated that he used a prohibited substance once in London for a "one-time trial," while claiming that the residues found in a jar at his home were "thyme crumbs sent by my mother from the village."
The court defense of singer İlyas Yalçıntaş, who was arrested and sent to prison as part of a drug investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office targeting celebrities, has been revealed. The discrepancy between the statements Yalçıntaş gave to the gendarmerie and the prosecutor's office and his statements in court drew attention.
In his statements to the gendarmerie and the prosecutor's office during the investigation, Yalçıntaş had said, "I do not use drugs. I haven't smoked cigarettes for 1.5 years." In his defense in court, however, he said that he had used a prohibited substance once for trial purposes in London about 6 months ago.
"THE CRUMBS IN THE JAR ARE THYME SENT BY MY MOTHER"
According to the report by journalist Burak Doğan, Yalçıntaş also made a statement regarding the materials seized in his home. He said that the residues found in the jar were not drugs, but thyme crumbs sent by his mother from the village.
Stating that the grinder was a gift from a friend living in London, the singer argued that he did not know it was a prohibited item.
"I HAD USED IT ONCE IN LONDON FOR A TRIAL"
In his defense in court, Yalçıntaş used the following expressions:
"I do not sell drugs to anyone. Regarding the plants inside the jar, the jar was empty; the crumbs in the jar are thyme crumbs sent to me by my mother from the village, they are the same in terms of smell. The grinders were gifted to me by my friend named Buğra who lives in London. He is a British citizen and lives there; I had thrown them in the cupboard because I did not know it was a prohibited material, and I did not know it was illegal because I had seen them sold in tobacco shops and similar sections.
Regarding the precision scale, I use it to regulate the grammage of what I eat for sports purposes. I last used a drug on January 31, 6 months ago, in London; it is fixed in my passport entries that I was in London. I had used it once for a trial, I had used cannabis once, and because I have hyperactivity disorder, I was very badly affected."
"I DO NOT ACCEPT THE ACCUSATIONS"
"I do not accept the statements regarding me dealing drugs. I do not accept the accusation leveled against me, I am innocent, I request to be released."
