Defense offered by man who stabbed his ex-fiancée 12 times in Bursa leaves many stunned

In Bursa, the first hearing was held for Batuhan Malay (23), who is being tried for 'attempted intentional homicide' and faces up to 20 years in prison for following his ex-fiancée, Ayşenur K. (22), and stabbing her 12 times in a shopping mall (AVM) parking lot.

MALAY'S DEFENSE

In his defense during the hearing, Batuhan Malay claimed that he did not follow Ayşenur K. and that he saw her at the mall by coincidence.

Stating that he still loves his ex-fiancée very much and did not want to harm her, Malay said the following:

“While I was walking with my brothers, I felt betrayed when I saw her with other men. I couldn't accept it. I still loved her. We had a 3-year relationship. I couldn't control my temper and I attacked. When she said, ‘I’m going to die, don’t do this,’ I realized what I was doing and went to surrender to the police. In fact, when she tried to grab the knife, I held the sharp side of the blade so she wouldn't get hurt.”

AYŞENUR K.'S TESTIMONY

Ayşenur K. stated that she had gone to the mall with her friends and called her father when she realized she was being followed, saying, “When I realized I was being followed, I called my father and told him. He attacked me when I went down to the parking lot. I am filing a complaint.”
