DEM Party MP reacts to integration agreement in Syria: 'Humiliating'

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Van MP Sinan Çiftyürek has reacted to the integration agreement that has come into effect in Syria.

Emphasizing that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as well as all institutions of the autonomous administration in Rojava have been liquidated, Çiftyürek said, "The goals of 'One State, Army, Parliament/Government and Flag' have been completed. In other words, the autonomy of the military-political institutions in Western Kurdistan has been liquidated."

"POLITICALLY HUMILIATING"

Sharing on his social media account, Çiftyürek also described the appointment of SDF Commander Mazlum Abdi as an advisor to Jolani, the president of the Damascus government established under the leadership of HTS, as politically 'humiliating':

"Furthermore, Mazlum Abdi taking on bureaucratic roles such as 'Advisor' or Undersecretary to Jolani will both be politically humiliating and will lead to Abdi being detached from politics, which is also what Turkey wants."

Çiftyürek stated, "At the current stage, the red line for Kurdish politics, as points of holding on or resistance, must be the recognition of Kurds in the Constitution and the defense of the right to education in the Kurdish language from primary school to university."
