The DEM Party issued a statement on its social media account regarding the re-detention and arrest of Selçuk Kozağaçlı, Honorary President of the Progressive Lawyers Association, following his release from prison.
The statement included the following remarks:
"The fact that Honorary President of the Progressive Lawyers Association Selçuk Kozağaçlı was re-detained and arrested less than 24 hours after his release from the prison where he had been held for eight years is a mental breakdown.
Arbitrariness and lawlessness by way of law have turned the judiciary into a tool of politics.
We condemn this lawlessness in the strongest possible terms. Attorney Selçuk Kozağaçlı must be released immediately."
