DEM Party responds promptly to Mehmet Uçum's 'language' warning! 'No one should try to derive power from this process...'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's chief advisor Mehmet Uçum made evaluations regarding the second opening process, referred to as a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' in his Sunday column yesterday (November 30).

Noting that the process has reached a critical threshold, Uçum called for sensitivity in language, stating, "While constructiveness in language is everyone's responsibility, it is clear who needs to pay the most attention. The statement of February 27, 2025, is the only binding text for all elements of the defunct terrorist organization. Approaches and discourses that deviate from the basic perspective in this text will benefit no one. On the contrary, they will harm the process. Since no one would want the responsibility of harming the process, one must act accordingly in language as well."

At the end of his article, Uçum included the following remarks: "Managing the process, establishing language, and conducting relations with everyone aware of all this will benefit the entirety of Turkey and every segment that is an essential element of the Turkish nation. It will enable us to build our common future more securely and strongly. No one should squander this 'window of historical opportunity'."

The response to Uçum's words from the DEM Party front was not delayed. In a statement, DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan said, "Those who warn us about language should show the same care and approach it with the same responsibility. This critical threshold does not only impose responsibility on us. It also imposes it on the opposition and the ruling party. We need to approach this with a sensitivity that ensures no political party turns it into an area to consolidate its own power, and no one should instrumentalize the process by trying to derive a different kind of power from it."
