Demirören's debt to Ziraat Bank brought to Parliament! Questions for Mehmet Şimşek from CHP MP
The Ziraat Bank debt of the Demirören Group, which is close to the government, has been brought to the parliamentary agenda. CHP Ankara MP Deniz Demir has submitted a parliamentary question to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek to answer regarding Demirören's debts.
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated regarding the debts of the pro-government Demirören group, "The Demirören Group has paid its installments to Ziraat Bank and has no overdue debt."
Following this statement by Şimşek, Republican People's Party (CHP) Ankara MP Deniz Demir brought the Demirören Group's debts to the TBMM.
Submitting a parliamentary question to the Speaker of the TBMM, Demir asked Minister Şimşek, "What is the total debt of the Demirören Group to Ziraat Bank? How much of its debt to Ziraat Bank has it paid? On what dates were these payments made? Does the Demirören Group have any debts to other public banks?"
Demir said, "Ziraat Bank is a public bank established to support and develop Turkish farmers. We will, of course, hold them accountable for the exorbitant loans given to certain companies by public banks. What is the interest rate on the Demirören Group's loans? Was any extra convenience provided to the Demirören family regarding repayments? A public bank must account for this."
Demir directed the following questions to Minister Şimşek:
"What is the total debt of the Demirören Group to Ziraat Bank? Does the Demirören Group have any debts to other public banks? How much of its debt to Ziraat Bank has the Demirören Group paid? On what dates were these payments made? What is the amount of debt paid after its due date? When did the Demirören Group take out the loan in question from Ziraat Bank? What kind of repayment plan was created for the repayment of the loan debt? What are the interest rate and maturity period of the loan?"
