Demolition and aid schedule announced for Ayazağa

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül conducted inspections in the Ayazağa neighborhood of Sarıyer, which was affected by flooding following heavy rainfall. Providing information on the search, demolition, stream rehabilitation, and aid efforts being carried out in the region, Gül stated that institutions are on the ground in coordination.

Stating that search operations for citizens missing in the flood are continuing, Gül noted that teams are focusing on the points where they were last seen and the areas where their mobile phone signals were received. Gül said, "We are looking at the entire region. We estimate they are here, but they may not be here and could have ended up 5-10 kilometers away or even in the sea. Our teams are working with the precision of a jeweler."

DEMOLITION SCHEDULE FOR RISKY STRUCTURES

Governor Gül announced that structures posing a risk in Ayazağa Square will be removed. Accordingly, the demolition of shops in the square and the lodgings belonging to the Quran course is planned to be completed tonight and tomorrow. Gül said that the work in the area where the Quran course, sports hall, and 16 shops are located is also important for stream rehabilitation.

Stating that 10 thousand liras of support will be provided to citizens affected by the flood in the first stage, Gül conveyed that the payment will be made with the budget of the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Noting that damage assessments have been largely completed, Gül stated that the amounts in the reports will be evaluated according to AFAD criteria.

Gül said, "We aim to review the figures in the reports according to AFAD's criteria on Monday and make all payments on Monday and Tuesday."

Stating that two problematic points have been identified in Ayazağa, Gül noted that İSKİ is carrying out work on the stream bed in the upper part of the residential area. Expressing that there is a need for approximately 1700 meters of stream rehabilitation around Ayazağa Square, Gül stated that this work will be paved the way after the occupations and obstacles are removed.

Announcing that an office will be established in the region for the renewal of residences affected by the flood, Gül said that the office is planned to be operational by Sunday or Monday at the latest. Citizens will be offered the option of renewing their own structures with the "Half is on Us" support or transformation through TOKİ.

Touching upon the rainfall across Istanbul, Gül stated that the rainfall continues to increase on the Anatolian Side and that although the risk has decreased in the city, it persists. The heavy rain is effective in Kağıthane, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Mecidiyeköy, and Sultangazi on the European Side; and in Ümraniye, Üsküdar, Kartal, Pendik, and Tuzla on the Anatolian Side.

In Beykoz, municipal teams and IMM teams checked rainwater channels on main arteries and in areas that had previously experienced flooding, and intervened in clogged storm drains. The entrance to the Kayaşehir Merkez Station of the M3 Bakırköy-Kayaşehir Metro Line was also closed with barricades against the risk of flooding.
