Demolition begins at Bebek Hotel

Following the identification of illegal construction at the Bebek Hotel, which was previously searched as part of a drug investigation, demolition work has begun on certain sections of the building.

A demolition order was issued by the Cultural Heritage Preservation Board for the Bebek Hotel, located on the Bosphorus and well-known to the public, after structures violating zoning regulations were identified.

Following this decision, the administrative court ruled to stay the execution of the order upon an application filed by the hotel management.

It was determined that the hotel, which was sealed on December 28 after illegal construction was detected, had allegedly continued its operations without authorization despite this process.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) teams arrived at the hotel in the morning and began demolition work on the unlicensed sections.

DRUG INVESTIGATION

During previous searches conducted at the Bebek Hotel, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were seized. As part of the ongoing investigation, the hotel owner and the operations manager were arrested.

It was learned that the hotel owner had admitted that the business continued its operations by serving only private clients.
