Demonstrations and events banned around Marmara Prison
The Silivri District Governorship in Istanbul has banned demonstrations, press statements, and events around the Marmara Penal Execution Institution between January 25 and February 28 to maintain public order and general security.
In a written statement issued by the Silivri District Governorship, it was announced that demonstrations, press statements, and events have been temporarily banned following reports that actions capable of threatening public order and general security were being planned around the Marmara Penal Execution Institution.
The statement read, “Following reports received regarding actions planned around the Marmara Penal Execution Institution located within our district borders that could negatively affect public order and general security between January 25, 2025, and February 28, 2025, it has been deemed appropriate to take the following measures.
It has been deemed appropriate to ban actions such as 'gathering, demonstrating and marching, press statements, interviews, camera filming, opening and carrying banners, chanting slogans, setting up tents, coming to the courtroom area with written or symbolic clothing, filming with mobile phones, taking photographs, setting up stands, and engaging in protest behaviors' within the Marmara Prison Campus, inside and around the courtrooms, in and around the prison visitor parking lot, and within a 1-kilometer radius of the prison campus wire fence, as it is assessed that these could negatively affect and endanger public peace, public safety, and public health; it has also been deemed appropriate to implement road safety and control measures when necessary,” the statement said.
