Demonstrations and events banned in Van for 3 days
The Van Governor's Office has announced that demonstrations, marches, and outdoor meetings have been banned for 3 days.
The Van Governor's Office stated in a release that the measure aims to prevent actions and attacks that are assessed to directly and clearly create the conditions for limitation and prohibition as stipulated in the Constitution and laws.
The statement, which noted that the goal is to ensure the safety of life and property for the public, thwart the plans of terrorist organizations, and protect fundamental rights and freedoms, recorded the following:
"Within the borders of Van province, for a period of 3 days starting from February 14 and including February 16, actions and events such as demonstrations, marches, outdoor meetings, press statements, sit-ins, setting up stands, organizing signature campaigns, and distributing leaflets, brochures, and flyers are prohibited between the specified dates in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
The statement, which reported that the aim is to prevent participation in any kind of unlawful action or event from districts or surrounding provinces, either individually or collectively, or by using the city's transit routes, included the following expressions:
"A decision has been made not to permit individuals and groups likely to participate in unlawful actions and events from entering our province and districts, from leaving here individually or collectively, or from using our province's routes to travel to the specified location, in accordance with the provisions of Article 11, paragraph (C) of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
