Denial from Mehmet Şimşek regarding those reports

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance addressed the public with a statement countering reports in the press regarding a past partnership of Mehmet Şimşek. The statement emphasized that the allegations put forward are intended to mislead the public and that similar content has been clarified multiple times before.

It was stated that the allegations created a false perception based on a limited company partnership established in London in 2021, solely for the renovation of an apartment, before Şimşek assumed his ministerial duties. The Ministry argued that distorting the scope of this company and associating it with public tenders is a deliberate smear campaign.

The written statement issued by the Ministry included the following remarks:

“The report titled ‘Şimşek's partner will pierce Çamlıbel for 4 billion,’ announced on the front page of Sözcü Newspaper today, is a forced piece of journalism that carries an effort to create a perception through the way it is written.

Presenting the company partnership, which our Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mr. Mehmet Şimşek, formed in 2021—when he did not hold a ministerial position—solely for the renovation of a 163-square-meter apartment in London, as ‘the Minister's partner’ by associating it with every tender the individual receives, is a conscious effort to smear.

Serving such reports by using our Minister's name and photographs regarding a subject that has been explained many times before is an attempt to mislead the public. All our legal rights regarding this report will be exercised.
