Denial of Abdülkadir Selvi's claims regarding Akın Gürlek and 'Demirtaş': We have no such statement
As the 'Framework Law' continues to be debated, statements regarding who will be released under this law remain on the agenda. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek has denied a report by pro-government media columnist Abdülkadir Selvi concerning Selahattin Demirtaş.
Abdülkadir Selvi had made a claim that "Minister Gürlek said Demirtaş would not benefit from the framework law," a topic that had occupied the agenda. Sources from the Ministry of Justice stated that Akın Gürlek had not made any statement regarding Demirtaş.
DENIAL FROM THE MINISTRY
In his column, Hürriyet newspaper writer Abdülkadir Selvi, while reporting on the behind-the-scenes of the AKP MKYK meeting, wrote, “Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said, while providing information about the law at the MKYK meeting, that Abdullah Öcalan and Selahattin Demirtaş would not be able to benefit from the law.”
According to a report on Halk TV, this news reported in Selvi's column was denied by both the DEM Party and the Ministry of Justice.
A high-level official from the DEM Party stated, “according to information provided by the ministry, Mr. Gürlek did not use such an expression,” while sources from the Ministry of Justice used the phrase “we have no such statement.”
