Deniz Yavuzyılmaz recalls cancelled agreement in the shadow of 'oil crisis': Only 4 months left

CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz was one of the first to react to the decision published in the Official Gazette on July 21, 2025, stating that Turkey would withdraw from the 1973 pipeline agreement with Iraq as of 2026. Stating that the agreement made was to Turkey's detriment, Yavuzyılmaz made a new post after a few months had passed, reminding that there are 4 months left until the agreement expires.

Pointing to the oil crisis the world has fallen into, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz recalled the damages that the cancellation of this agreement would cause at such a time and issued striking warnings.

Here is that post by Deniz Yavuzyılmaz:

"Through the handiwork of President Tayyip Erdoğan

With the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette on July 21, 2025;

With a single signature

It was decided to terminate the 52-year-old Turkey-Iraq Crude Oil Pipeline Agreement as of July 27, 2026.

The agreement, which has been amended many times over the past years, is now being completely cancelled.

In the shadow of the global fuel crisis;

As of today, the remaining time for the agreement to expire is only 4 months

Therefore, a new agreement must be made regarding this pipeline within 4 months. However, this new agreement;

Must be signed in line with the interests of Turkey, not Tayyip Erdoğan or the AKP!

This new agreement must be a strong and clean agreement for our country.

Because, due to the irregularities that the AKP knowingly and willingly committed in this pipeline between 2014-2018, right before everyone's eyes;

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) had ruled that Turkey must pay a fine of 1 Billion 471 Million Dollars to Iraq.

If these fine amounts are to be paid, they must absolutely be collected from the assets of Tayyip Erdoğan and the relevant AKP officials!
