Deputy Minister of Justice Ramazan Can’s defense against 'nepotism' claims: Is it appropriate to film a mobile phone for half an hour?

A message received on the mobile phone of Deputy Minister of Justice Ramazan Can, which read "I had told you I was taking the promotion exam, you had asked me to send my information," has become a major topic of discussion.

FOX TV cameras captured messages in which it was alleged that Mehmet Ali Çelebi, who switched from the Homeland Party (Memleket Partisi) to the AKP, also requested special treatment.

While Ramazan Can walked away without answering the FOX TV reporter, Çelebi stated in a post regarding the matter, "Requesting sensitivity in an interview by mentioning that someone is a relative of a martyr is being called nepotism. Let us show it to the journalists who want to see it."

As the allegations of nepotism dominated the public agenda, Deputy Minister of Justice Ramazan Can broke his silence.

Attempting to walk away upon seeing the cameras of FOX News, which had captured the messages, Can responded to the reporter's question, "There were nepotism messages that emerged yesterday, what would you like to say?" as follows:

"There are no 'nepotism' messages or anything of the sort. Look a bit into fundamental rights and freedoms, personal rights and freedoms, and the issue of privacy. Is it appropriate to film a mobile phone for half an hour?"

"THERE IS NO INTERFERENCE IN THE JUDICIARY"

Upon the reporter's remark, "However, there is public interest in the news being reported," Can replied, "The law is clear, read it carefully."

When reminded of the message captured on camera, which read, "I requested that the court be called to provide an earlier hearing date. I informed our lawyer with your regards," and asked, "What would you like to say regarding interference in the judiciary?", Deputy Minister of Justice Can responded, "There is no such thing. Requests come to us, and we forward them to the relevant places."
