Deputy Minister Sayan warns of solar flare: 'It may lead to disruptions and outages'

Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fatih Sayan shared a post on his social media account regarding developments that may occur following flares on the sun's surface.

Pointing out that they are closely monitoring geomagnetic storm activities resulting from recent solar flares, Sayan stated, "The storms can negatively affect satellite communication systems and power grids, leading to disruptions and outages."

OUTAGES THAT COULD LAST FOR HOURS

Sayan reported that according to scientific explanations regarding this storm, disruptions could occur in the frequencies of satellite navigation systems and radio receivers, and that this situation is predicted to cause outages that could last for hours.

Emphasizing that they will continue to follow all developments meticulously, Sayan noted the following:

"We are closely monitoring geomagnetic storm activities resulting from recent flares on the sun's surface.

Geomagnetic storms can negatively affect satellite communication systems and power grids, leading to disruptions and outages.

According to some scientific explanations regarding the storm in question, it is predicted that disruptions may occur in the frequencies of satellite navigation systems and radio receivers, and that this situation could cause outages that may last for hours.

Our Ministry continues its work in coordination with all our stakeholders to ensure that our communication systems, including our satellite systems, are not affected and operate flawlessly.

No disruptions have occurred in our country's communication services to date.

We will continue to follow all developments meticulously."
