Dervişoğlu's early election commentary: If what is happening is a trap set for Turkey, it is my duty to break it

Dervişoğlu's early election commentary: If what is happening is a trap set for Turkey, it is my duty to break it

Here are the highlights from the statements made by Dervişoğlu during a program he attended on Sözcü TV:

Ever since constitutional change began to be discussed in Turkey, everything except the constitution has been debated. The amendment of the first four articles was discussed, and the idea of Öcalan speaking in parliament was brought to the agenda.

While we were supposed to be discussing the constitution, other topics were brought to the agenda, and these discourses made us think that the real issue is not discussing the constitution...

It would not be right to approach the issue solely through nationalist reflexes, and I have never used that window.

As a citizen, I have concerns... Turkey is not living in a rose garden; there are very major problems around it. There is a war to its north, and there are inhumane attacks by Israel to its south.

The territorial integrity of two of our neighbors has been compromised, and these places have turned into playgrounds for terrorist organizations... Turkey is a state with traditions and a nation that has founded 17 states, so it is not possible for just anyone who comes along to construct a state mind.

No one can construct a state mind in an instant for a country with at least 3,000 years of state mind history.

Saying 'Let Öcalan come and speak in parliament' means paving the way for his release; that is what I am against!

Öcalan cannot come to Parliament, nor can he get out of the hole he is stuck in; let no one engage in political maneuvering to create this.

I have no respect for anything above the love of homeland and flag...

I am underlining this: the talk of 'let him come to the TBMM and speak under the roof of this party' means freedom is being planned for that person, and efforts are being made to take steps toward this; I find this very dangerous.

As I said at our party group meeting, they cannot take such an action without stepping over our dead bodies.

THE NOOSE GIVEN TO BAHÇELİ

That is the tabloid side of the matter, and I wish you hadn't gotten hung up on it; I am not getting into the subliminal messages part. Since these speeches are a milestone, I said let this be a memento of it, and by making a reference to the past, I said hang this at your bedside.

I said my speech is more important; I told them to frame and hang what I said.

The reason I threw the noose was a reference to the noose Bahçeli threw at one of his rallies. I do not want to evoke the death penalty or bring it back.

But since you accept these words as a milestone, I said you will remember me by looking at this.

I sent the noose in an İYİ Party bag, and he hung it up; I hope that every time he looks at it, he remembers the actions and stance of the İYİ Party.

I do not understand the messages Bahçeli gives with such objects, and I am not making any effort to understand them either...

WHERE IS THE SOLUTION TO TERROR?

If this is called terror, there is no way other than armed struggle. But if you both call what is happening terror and, as in the past, let terrorists cross your border and buy them lahmacun and offer them ayran along the way, if you send mobile courts to their feet and remove Atatürk posters and Turkish flags, then you have become part of an imperial plan.

It is necessary to see that the refugees coming from Syria are trying to disrupt our state structure, and if we are to act with a state mind, it must be with a common mind.

They say I am acting solely with nationalist reflexes; let those people come and I will give them a history lesson. They are trying to marginalize the ideology that founded this state.

They are trying to make the system that founded the State of Turkey marginal, and I am trying not to fall into this trap.

THE GOVERNMENT'S 'İMRAI' APPROACH

For some reason, the AKP is not in this debate; everyone wants Bahçeli and Dervişoğlu to argue. I express what I have to say within civilized measures. I express my opinion even when I am within that structure.

Let them not think that we are in such a fight; when there are no teeth, there are gums, let this be a message to them.

I do not claim to be the sole representative of anything. I am a Turkish nationalist, and I am a follower of this to the end. I am in favor of creating a central political mind. The founding philosophy of the Republic should not be made a subject of debate within today's cheap bargaining.

I have not sat at any bargaining table with those who want to destroy this philosophy, and I will not sit at one from now on.

The core values of the nation are issues that everyone should embrace. They are not under anyone's monopoly...

I consider the issue of 'raising the stakes' an incorrect expression; Turkey is not a gambling table.

THE LINE OF THE İYİ PARTY

The İYİ Party has been on the same line since it was founded and has not changed. It was founded by the will of the nation and is kept alive by the nation again.

Our party is standing tall; it has gone through difficulties, but I am describing the process since I took office; a serious recovery has begun to be observed there.

While saying this, I do not intend to harm the past, but the process we went through caused us not to be able to explain some things correctly.

I hope the nation will see our upright stance and grant us authority.

EARLY ELECTION

If all of this is an election preparation, I do not expect an early election, but if this is a trap set for Turkey, then let it be my duty to break this trap.

I am concerned about Turkey's troubles; I am not thinking about who will be the President. Even though it is known that Mr. Erdoğan will not be a candidate again, he is being pitted against other candidates. This harms the institutional qualities of politics.

This system pointed to the difficulties of coalitions but forced parties to form coalitions. This is one of the important problems that Turkey needs to solve.

The citizen has lost the right to evaluate parties with their own identities. I have become concerned about how the nation's troubles will be solved.

ANSWERED THE QUESTION 'WHY ARE NATIONALISTS NOT ACTING TOGETHER'

When you look at it, nationalists are also founding new parties... My biggest claim and wish is to bring nationalists together. Saying 'let parties come together' is meaningful, but it does not yield results. Processes have been experienced that turned some political figures into untrustworthy politicians.

I am not addressing party banners and signs; I am addressing the spirit of Turkey and trying to gather it under one roof.

I am calling out to the spirit of nationalist central politics; I will not make any call to those who have left our party.

Those who have left us recently do not have a problem stemming from principles. None of them can turn to me and say 'I am leaving because Dervişoğlu did this'.

My fights and my concerns are sacred.

I am currently traveling in the field, and I have not seen such poverty; one segment would be well-off. We are currently going through a process where all segments of society are suffering.

The citizen is in poverty, students go to bed hungry and wake up hungry, farmers cannot get the return for the sweat they shed. I want to end the artificial debates that cover up Turkey's fundamental issues, and I want to say that we will contribute to those who want to end this.
