Dervişoğlu's first reaction to the Cabinet reshuffle! Notable remarks on Akın Gürlek and İmamoğlu
İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu criticized the appointment of Akın Gürlek as Minister of Justice, stating, "The appointment of a figure who has managed the most significant legal processes against the main opposition party as Minister of Justice has concretized and formalized the political nature of these cases."
İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made evaluations regarding current political developments at his party's parliamentary group meeting.
Addressing the processes targeting Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in his speech, Dervişoğlu stated, "Look at what is being done not just to Ekrem İmamoğlu, but to his family. Is this acceptable in the eyes of God? The moment politics begins to settle scores through families, it loses its legitimacy."
Emphasizing the rule of law, Dervişoğlu said, "The moment the state steps outside the law, it is not strong, it is cowardly." Stating that processes should be conducted within the framework of the law rather than with a motive of revenge, Dervişoğlu continued, "If there is a crime, of course it will be investigated. If there is a penalty, it will be given if necessary, but it must be given through law and justice. Not with revenge, intimidation, or making examples of people. It must be given with conscience and law. What this country needs is not more fear, but a little bit of justice."
FIRST REACTION TO THE CABINET CHANGE
Evaluating the cabinet reshuffle carried out with a decree published at midnight, Dervişoğlu criticized the dismissal of two ministers and the appointment of new names in their place.
"A change was made in the cabinet right at midnight. Two important ministers were removed from their posts and replaced with new ones. With a single decree, a single signature, a single decision. That is how one-man regimes are. In one-man regimes, one goes, another comes. Names and individuals have no importance. Other than the head of the cabinet, no change is binding," said Dervişoğlu, who also made assessments regarding the function of ministries in the current system.
Dervişoğlu stated, "All ministries have now become political elements and mean nothing more than representative offices that carry out the President's instructions. In this respect, the new cabinet reshuffle is nothing more than an illusion within the freak Presidential Government System."
“THE POLITICAL NATURE OF JUDICIAL PROCESSES HAS BEEN FORMALIZED”
Touching upon the appointment of Akın Gürlek as Minister of Justice, Dervişoğlu argued that this appointment raises serious questions regarding ongoing judicial processes.
"However, the appointment of a figure who has managed the most significant legal processes against the main opposition party as Minister of Justice has concretized and formalized the political nature of these cases. The government does not hesitate to make its systematic pressure on the opposition official and to display it openly. Can you imagine? The person who files the lawsuit becomes the head of the judges who will conduct the trial before the legal process even begins. At the same time, this person is at the center of all appeal authorities regarding potential decision-making processes. In other words, they are positioned above the authority that files a lawsuit against you and will make a decision about you, and at the center of the authorities where you can appeal the decision. It is understood that no environment of democracy and peace for Turkey will emerge from any process in such an atmosphere."
