Destici sparks controversy with remarks on refugees: 'Who killed Özgecan Aslan?'

BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici, during his remarks on the events in Kayseri, pointed out that Turkish citizens also commit crimes and emphasized the principle of personal liability for crimes.

Appearing as a guest on the program "Hepsi Bu Hafta Oldu" hosted by Armağan Çağlayan on Ekol TV, Destici stated the following:

'WHO RAPED AND KILLED ÖZGECAN ASLAN?'

"We express that all kinds of efforts should be made regarding the repatriation of refugees and that they should return to where they came from in a safe manner. As we discussed a moment ago, this has emerged. It is an incident that causes great harm to Turkish nationalism. One of the refugees committed a crime. Our own citizens commit these crimes as well. Who kidnapped, raped, and killed Özgecan Aslan? Or who threw little children into wells? We cannot look at the issue this way. Whoever committed that crime, you must punish that person. You lynch another man because he raped a child, but there are innocent children in the houses you attack or burn. The Turkish nation is merciful, the Turkish nation is compassionate."
