Details of easy travel to Greek islands revealed: 'Prices are more affordable'
The visa-on-arrival program for Greek islands begins this month. So, has the program affected demand for the Greek islands? How will the procedures for the visa-on-arrival be carried out?
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had announced that visa facilitation for Turkish citizens traveling to Greek islands would begin in March. A 7-day visa will be obtainable for 10 Greek islands within a 1-year period.
Speaking to Haber Global reporter Aşkın Şeker, tourism professional Ali Onaran said, "There is a significant increase in demand for the visa-on-arrival starting in March. My estimation is that the number of people traveling from Turkey to the Greek islands could reach 700-800 thousand this year. This is a supply-demand balance, a price balance. The fact that prices on the Greek islands are more affordable is increasing the demand there. Holiday demand for Bodrum might shift that way, but our own coasts are also wonderful; I predict we will have a great summer."
"YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE VISA EASILY"
Onaran stated, "The biggest convenience here is that you can access it as little as 24 hours in advance. It will be easy, and many documents will not be required. You will be able to obtain the visa with just a photocopy of your passport and perhaps 1-2 documents related to your employment. It will be valid for only 7 days and for that specific island. There will be no transit to other places from that island. If you are going to Chios, this will be a visa obtained only for that location."
The 10 islands that can be visited in Greece with a visa-on-arrival:
Chios
Lesbos
Rhodes
Samos
Kos
Kastellorizo
Patmos
Leros
Kalymnos
Symi
