Details of Mehmet Akif Ersoy's supplementary statement emerge: It lasted 3 hours
The supplementary statement given by Mehmet Akif Ersoy — who was arrested as part of a drug investigation — to the prosecutor's office seeking to benefit from "active remorse" provisions has come to light.
Habertürk TV former Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy had given a 3-hour supplementary statement to the prosecutor's office on December 30, seeking to benefit from active remorse provisions.
Ersoy's active remorse statement has been obtained. The relevant excerpts from that statement are as follows:
"As far as I remember, in 2019, while I was at my home in Piyalepaşa, Veyis Ateş came to visit me. He had visited me before as well. We would sit and chat. However, on this particular visit he had brought drugs with him. It was the first time in my life I had seen drugs. Afterwards we talked about what drugs are and what their effects are. At that time I wasn't even drinking alcohol. On that day or on his second visit, I used drugs (c…) for the first time at my home in Piyalepaşa. I was even a little apprehensive about its addictive nature and side effects while using it."
"A short time after this incident I had moved to my home at Seba Flats. During that period I was in a relationship with E.A. D.Y. was Ebru's friend. One day while the three of us were eating at a fish restaurant, we met S.S. and a girl named E. who was with him. Our friendship developed through this encounter and they even invited us to their home for dinner. At E. and S.'s home they had prepared a surprise birthday party for me. When I arrived there were 10–12 people at the house. There I met Ahmet Göçmez. After the crowd dispersed, Ahmet, S., myself, and E. were left in the house. I don't remember whether anyone else was there. When we looked toward the kitchen we noticed some activity going on in there. We later understood that S. and Ahmet had used cocaine. Then S. asked me whether I had tried it before. I said yes, I had tried it once. I didn't use it that day because I didn't feel comfortable there. However, about 1–1.5 months later when we went again, I did use it. During that time Ahmet and I became friends. On our second visit Ahmet was there too. I don't remember exactly but we may have gone together with Ahmet. The house was crowded again. After the crowd dispersed, S. made preparations again. I used it with them for the first time there. S. told me it was in the kitchen. I went to the kitchen and used it by snorting. This was the second time in my life I had used drugs."
"I UNDERSTOOD AS OUR CLOSENESS GREW"
"At that time they wanted to meet Veyis Ateş. I don't remember exactly where I introduced them. S. and Ahmet had also come to my home. I may have introduced them there. During this process Ahmet and I became close. We started seeing each other more frequently. During this period my relationship with E. was on-again, off-again. Shortly after January 8, 2021, E. and I broke up for good."
"In the subsequent period I entered into a relationship with P. At first Ahmet didn't make it very obvious that he was using drugs, but as our closeness grew I understood that he was using drugs more frequently."
"At that time Ahmet was living at Maslak 1453. Shortly after we met he moved to Emirgan. After he moved we started seeing each other more frequently. Ahmet met my family and I met Ahmet's family; we even introduced each other to our respective friends. We had many social occasions where we got together. When we were at Ahmet's home in Emirgan there would be drugs. We used together a few times. Over a period of 3–4 years we used drugs at the Emirgan house on average about 10 times. It was always there at Ahmet's home. I never witnessed it being brought in from outside, but I knew he had a dealer."
"HE SENT A MESSAGE SAYING 'LET'S MEET AT HOME'"
"Fevzi Çakır and Ela Rümeysa Cebeci were very close. Fevzi acted as an intermediary so that Ela could get the job. I have absolutely no personal involvement with Ela Rümeysa Cebeci. I never met her alone in my life. Two days before Ela was taken into custody she had sent me a message saying, 'Let's sit down and have coffee.' I replied, 'We work at the same institution. It wouldn't be appropriate for us to meet outside.' She then said, 'You're single, I'm single too — let's meet at home.'"
"I ARGUED WITH HIM ON THE PHONE BECAUSE HE SENT INAPPROPRIATE MESSAGES TO MY EX-WIFE"
"I never met Çağatay Özdemir in person, but I did have an argument with him on the phone. He is a former deputy communications director. I have no legal dealings with him whatsoever. During a Presidential trip he had sent inappropriate messages to my ex-wife P., which is why I argued with him on the phone. He also sent an apology message."
